Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to episode 29 of the White Pony Network Podcast.

Today we have two very special guests who are presenting at the next MindAim Conference!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dom 3 years ago at one of his Entrepreneur Club events and I noticed how much of a great networker he was. He was very switched on and was brilliant at bringing people together and offering great value. I soon also had the pleasure of meeting his wife Karina, and it’s easy to see why this family team does so well.

Dom and Karina are leaders of an international mentorship program, direct a marketing agency and are the co-organisers of The Entrepreneur Club in Melbourne. Dom has also co-authored a best-selling book.

In this conversation we go through Dom & Karina’s journey, the difficulties we have with breaking away from our own familiar, the business and how Dom & Karina have been able to create a system that ensures lasting development and growth of what they’re building, dealing with challenges, recommended books, amazing quotes and concepts sprinkled throughout as well as plans for the future.

These two people are amazing and are always putting others first and offering immense value and as a consequence reaping well earned rewards.

So please enjoy this conversation with Dom & Karina McKenna

My Biggest Take-Aways

  • What’s easy now is hard later. What’s comfortable now is uncomfortable later. What’s uncomfortable now is comfortable later
  • You attract what you are, not what you want. Early on Karina attracted guys who validated all the negative things about her that she believed to be true
  • 1+1 = 11
  • We redesigned or identify versus just falling into the next thing, which is what a lot of people do
  • Most people when they try to figure out who they are. A lot of the time what you think you are is what other people have told you that you are
  • The path of most resistance is the best path for growth. We avoid struggle when that is often what builds the character
  • DMGB – Doesn’t Matter Get Better
  • No one’s blogging about us online, I am blogging about myself in my mind, so I am my worst critic
  • Who we are vs how we are
  • The only difference between where we are now and where we want to be is a lack of information
  • Don’t pay emotional attention to the reaction, pay it to the event itself
  • Feel it so you can heal it
  • This too shall pass, however if too shall repeat if you don’t change
  • Pain + Reflection = Progress (Ray Dalio)
  • You can only take people as far as you’ve gone before
  • A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still
  • Better people make better business owners
  • 10/80/10 Principle – Top 10: People who give all they have all the time. Majority 80: Reliable, do the job. Bottom 10: Just coasting. The aim is to move as many people from the 80% to the 10% as they can (Urban Mayer)
  • Hard work beats talent when talent won’t work hard
  • Seek to understand rather than to be understood
  • People are never where we want them to be, they’re just where they’re at
  • ‘A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts, therefore they live in a world of illusions’ – Ryan Holiday
  • Most people spend too much time listening to themselves and not enough time talking to themselves
  • Be your own ultimate cheerleader
  • We compare ourselves to things that are not real and this is the thief of joy
  • If you’re going through hell, just keep going. There’s no point coming back
  • Authentic leadership is healing the parts of ourselves so that we can heal others as well

1:20:25 What are some inner areas that tend to hold you back or have held you back and how are you able or have been able to overcome them?
Self-sabotage would be the biggest thing. Most people spend too much time listening to themselves and not enough time talking to themselves. Our days would be so much better if we had better self-talk. We compare ourselves to things that are not real and this is the thief of joy.

1:31:20 Did you achieve your goals that you set yourself over the last 12 months?
We never quite hit them. We’re always pushing further and usually get about 80% of the way there. If we achieve out goals we’re not really stretching ourselves

Dom is retiring on July 26, 2019 – Retiring any effort for trading time for money in any sort of corporate sense. Dom will get back 64,000 hours over the next 32 years. Dom wants to be at 13% body fat

Karina – Doing the best with what I have. Dom with the vision and Karina with the awareness. The team balances very well.

1:37:10 Who are you looking to connect with?
People who are A players stuck in B games
